Wine of Georgia only stocks the finest and most traditional quality for you to enjoy
You have probably never come across Georgian brandy or chacha before; the flavours and quality of these spirits may surprise even the most seasoned drinkers. Georgian brandy and chacha make a great gift too, so take a look at our traditional and unique range below.
The history of Georgian Brandy
Brandy has been produced in Georgia since the 1800s. The first Georgian brandy of note, OC, was produced in 1901, created by Davit Sarajishvili. OC, an acronym for the phrase ‘very old’ in Russian, won 11 gold medals in exhibitions between 1889 to 1913. Today, Georgian brandy is created using a fusion of modern and traditional techniques and is sweet, spicy and smooth, making the perfect after-dinner drink.
The history of Georgian Chacha
Historically Chacha has been produced in Georgian households for centuries, in fact over a 1000 years. Often referred to as "Georgian grape vodka" or a "wine vodka" Chacha is made from a distillation of grape pomace, and holds cultural significance, frequently consumed during festive gatherings and toasts. Georgian Chacha has a bold, fiery taste with a distinctively fruity aroma and subtle hints of grape and herbs, delivering a warm and robust finish.
Bought in Georgia during a memorable holiday in June 2024 and savoured until the last drop today, 29 September. A beautiful brandy, smooth, complex and rich. I shall buy in the UK in preference to any other brandy.
First tried this wine in a Georgian restaurant in Prague.
Excellent body and fruit flavours.
